Child Attention Seeking

Behaviour Analysts Highlight That One Of The Most Important Things A Parent Can Do For The Relationship Between Them & Their Child, Is To Make The Time For Quality One-To-One Time With Their Child On A Consistent, Daily Basis.

Behaviour Therapists Point Out, It’s A Part Of Parenting That You Don’t Need To Spend Money On, That You Don’t Need To Leave The House To Do, & It Doesn’t Have To Involve A Lot Of Movement Or Activity Either…

But What It Does Involve, Child Therapist’s Point Out, Is The Parent’s Commitment To Making The Time To Spend Quality, One-To-One Time With Their Child On A Daily Basis, & Giving Their Child Their Full Focus & Attention During This Time.

Giving Each Sibling Quality, One-To-One Time Can Be Done By Making A Conscious Effort To Allocate At Least 20mins Per Day Quality, One-To-One Time With Each Child Separately. This One-To-One Time Should Be When Their Siblings Are With The Other Parent/At An Activity/Asleep/Watching TV/When They Are There Too But Content Doing Something Else. It Is Important For The Parent To Have One-To-One Time With Each Child Separately, Without Anyone Else Being Around, So That Each Child Has That Parent’s Full Focus & Attention Without Having To Share It With Anyone Else, For Example, Their Siblings Or The Other Parent.

Studies In The Field Of Behaviour Analysis Show That By A Parent Having Daily, Quality, One-To-One Time With Their Child, This Makes It More Likely That There Will Be A Positive Knock-On Effect On Their Child’s Behaviour. With Regards To This, The Child Is Less Likely To Present With As Many Behaviour Challenges, For Example, Tantrums Due To Difficulty Managing Anger, Negative Attention-Seeking Behaviours, Sibling Rivalry, Etc.

In Addition To This, It Will Also Build & Nurture The Relationship Between The Child & The Parent, It Will Help Them To Learn To Listen To Each Other, & It Will Help Develop A Mutual Respect & Understanding For Each Other... While The Child Gets What All Children Want Most, Their Parent’s Full Focus & Undivided Attention.
